2ndHand: Desktop Website Design
To go along with my graphic design senior project, I expanded upon the existing brand I had created to make a mini website. The desktop website was meant to go hand in hand with the 2ndHand mobile app. My goal was creating a complete guide to choosing to thrift shop. The app had tools to navigate, rate, and review local stores, and the desktop site was a source of inspiration while browsing. I wanted to guide consumers on their journey to embracing more sustainable ways of shopping, beginning with the educational guide on the website, complete with a full library of articles written by me.
The site was based on the color palette, type system, and tone of the brand I had begun for 2ndHand. It relied heavily on vintage colors and themes, to prove how trendy and fun thrift shopping can be. The primary audience was young adults and adults falling into the Gen Z to Millennial range. To appeal to their tastes, the brand utilized graphics inspired by the Y2K fashion and decor trend, as well as other retro sources.
